More about our school
Our school is a co-educational school for children from 4 - 11 years and is situated in a beautiful rural location, approximately 1 mile outside Honiton.
The school was built during Queen Victoria's reign, but it has changed significantly since then! Our small numbers fluctuate between 85 and 95 children depending on the time of the year.
We have three classrooms at present with a full time teacher and teaching assistant in each. However Y4 is taught separately from Y5 & 6 for most of the core subject time by a fourth teacher.
The current structure is Foundation and Year 1, taught by Mrs Noon; Years 2 & 3 taught by Miss Morrison and Years 4, 5 & 6 taught by Miss Lee and Mrs Salter.
Our small numbers ensure that our experienced, committed staff know every child in school and ensure that the academic and pastoral needs of each child are met.
The main building accommodates two classrooms, a large hall, a library, cloakrooms, a resource area and administration and staff areas.
To the rear of the building is a state of the art ICT suite, (pictured to the right) which was opened in 2006. There are 15 server based personal computers, linked to a colour laser printer. An interactive whiteboard and projector enhances the teaching provision.
Most children begin their education with us in the Foundation class, and we are delighted that we now have a new classroom with freeflow access to a safe outside play area which is used to fully deliver the Foundation Curriculum.
We also welcome children into any other year groups where there is space, and in accordance with the school's Admissions Policy.
Outside the school we have a large playground to the front of the school, which now has colourful line markings for PE and games for the children to play, a stream running to the side which we use for some of our science lessons and a wooded area to the rear of the school, which is used as a teaching resource.
We also have a large field, where the children play sport, we hold sports day and they play on during the warmer summer months.
